Tonnerfest Parsons Doll Chair Craft

We have been enjoying the Virtual Doll Convention's Tonnerfest this month-- the videos have been fun and interesting to watch, and there was a free pattern for an outfit (Bucket List for Ellowynne Wilde) and  a free pattern/instruction video for a Parsons chair. We sat down today to try out this craft.

The craft was designed by Diana Lemieux of Matilda Pink and the video can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hXjRQuCh7s . For this craft, you need foam board, batting, fabric, and a hot glue gun. Janet had a blue fabric with gold marbling that I found at the quilt store, and Kairi used a fabulous fabric from JoAnn that is inspired by Van Gogh's Starry Night (one of our favorite paintings).

Making the chair was pretty fiddly, but the video was helpful and Diana was very encouraging through the process! We might try making scaled down versions in the future for our smaller dolls. We rate it 10 out of 10, we'd make it again!

Gail Wilson Very Small Cloth Doll

I bought this kit from Gail Wilson Designs to make a 3 inch Izannah Walker style doll. The kit says to make 3 and pick the best one- we kept them all, of course, even the one with the lopsided head! I was nervous about painting the faces, but the directions were excellent at leading me through the process! The pictures below show the dolls being made.
Dolls with faces, hands and legs painted flesh color, hair painted. Doll on right split a seam in her head when stuffed, and had to be repaired, leaving her lopsided.

Faces ironed on from template

White of eyes painted

Iris painted blue

Nose, lips, and mouth painted, and pantaloons put on.

Slips made and put on; the outer two slips were made from a vintage hankie.
Finished dolls! The dresses were also made from vintage hankies.

Sleepover!

Kairi is hosting her doll club's club doll, so this summer is one long sleepover for Rose (the doll). I made her a sleeping bag from some fabric and trims I had so she would be more comfortable!

The club doll is an American Girl doll I bought off eBay. Her hair had been cut, so the first thing we did was rewig her. Each girl in the club has had her for a month or longer, and several have made or bought clothes for her. One of the club members will win her when she is done touring.

Craft a Book!

This is a guide to making a book for your dolls.

First: find a picture of the book you want to make.

Next, put the image in Word:

Put it at the edge of the right side of the page.

Print the page.

Cut along the edge.

Cut along the side and top edge.

Fold along the edge.

Fold a second time to make the spine.

Cut along the other edge:

Cut out pages the same size as the cover.

Line up the pages.

Fold the pages to fit in the cover.

Trim the pages so they fit nicely and look nicer.

Staple the center of the pages.

 Fold over.

Done!

You can make different books like I did:
