Sunday morning Kairi had a second workshop where she made a carrying case for her doll. The case had already been sewn together, so she needed to tie off the quilted part by stitching thread through the fabric at the neck of the nesting doll on the fabric and tying the ends so it looked like a scarf on the doll. Then she laced a tie through the trim on the sides to hold it closed. This was the tricky part (Kairi complained it was tedious) and definitely the less fun part. She got through it, though, and has a wonderful case for her doll!

Just Loves Books!
Last night Janet was a hostess at the Maggie Iacono event "Just Loves Books". Being a hostess means you collect tickets for the attendees at the table, give them their souvenir, provide favors, and just generally make sure everyone is having fun! Maggie Iacono is a felt doll artist who articulates her dolls so you can pose them. She is an avid reader (like us!) so she picked books as the theme. Her daughter made a hilarious short movie about an 8 foot rose chasing some of her dolls around as the entertainment. It was such a good time! At the end, the doll was presented, a 10" felt doll with four books. Definitely a great addition to the collection!

Junior Tea Party
We went to the Junior Tea Party at the UFDC convention yesterday and had a blast! The theme was Fiesta, and we played spanish bingo, made paper flowers, learned about dolls from Mexico and got LOTS of loot! The doll club from Laredo hosted the tea and did a wonderful job. At the end, the girls all got a baby doll and accessories galore donated by.Madame Alexander. Kairi was in heaven, and even though she already has this doll (from a previous tea) she loves it very much!

Hat, vest and bag workshop
Today Kairi attended a workshop for the Junior collectors. She laced up a bag for her doll, and then decorated it and a vest and beret for her doll. It was a fun workshop, and it turned out cute.
Shop til you drop!
Last night the convention sales room opened at 8:15 and we got in the looooong line to get in. We found some awesome accessories and clothes for our dolls and saw a lot of interesting dolls for sale. We got a 10% off coupon for Affordable Designs at the Leeann luncheon, so our new Leeann dolls have a few new outfits!

Leeann loves gardening event
One of the fun things at the doll conventions is attending meal events. Today we went to the Leeann Loves Gardening lunch, where we had a nice lunch and enjoyed listening to Denis Bastien tell stories. He's a very fun, interesting guy and we had a great time! The fun part of the meal is the souvenir doll and favors; the picture shows our new doll and alllll the loot we got! Awesome! One of the pictures also shows the amazing quilt that was raffled off. We didn't win, but we're happy for our friend who did win.

Arrived!
We've arrived at the JW Marriott where the convention is being held. The dolls love the bed in the hotel room- it's pretty bouncy. Everyone is excited about the ice cream social tonight!
Lunch stop
Our first stop: lunch at Kairi's favorite spot. We made happy meals for the dolls so they could eat, too!
On the road again!
We are headed to the annual United Federation of Doll Clubs convention in San Antonio, Texas, and are going to blog our trip. Kairi's AG doll, Christine, Janet's Lulubelle and Half Pint are coming with, and helped us load the car. Woohoo, we are so excited!
