Wigs

Wigs!

May, 2011  Kairi wanted her American Girl doll Christine to have a new hairstyle without bangs.  American Girl dolls' hair is a wig, it's not rooted like Barbie dolls are, so you can completely change her hair by putting on a new wig!  I have even seen pink wigs on eBay!  But, no pink hair for Christine, Janet found a nice wig at Ruby Red Galleria (www.RubyRedGalleria.com).  They even have a video showing how to do it, which was very good, because Janet was a little nervous about doing this.  They recommend using nail polish remover to take off the glue that holds the wig on, but that didn't seem to do much.  You can just use a spoon to pry the wig away from the doll's head.  Below are pictures of our first try at re-wigging!

How Christine looked before
Our tools: nail polish remover, Q-tips, fork and tacky glue

Apply the nail polish remover to the edge of the wig, to remove the glue

Use the handle of the fork or spoon to pry the wig away from the head

Keep pulling!  Here the wig is half off.

The wig removed!

A few strands of hair were glued to the head; we left them on, since they match the new wig

Apply tacky glue to the head, along the same spots it was glued before.  You can sand off the old glue, but we left it on.

October, 2011

Janet decided to change Betsy's hair (it was always so messy!)  She bought a wig from JuJu's Dolly Mall (www.jujusdollymall.com) and went to work!
